Advantages

Contains both BVDV Types 1 & 2 to provide optimum protection against BVDV infection.

Protection against BVDV Type 1 or Type 2 fetal infection interrupts the cycle of in utero infection and reduces birth of persistently infected calves that perpetuate disease in the herd.

The original vaccine shown to protect against IBR virus abortions and persistent infection by BVDV Types 1 & 2.

Shown to be safe when given to pregnant cows provided they were vaccinated within the past 12 months with one of the Bovi-Shield FP vaccines.1

Achieved excellent protection against severe BVDV Type 2 intranasal challenge not demonstrated by any other vaccine manufacturer (see Figure 1).2

Controls viremia and provides protection against persistent infection (see Figure 2). 3

Rigorous safety studies showed a 1,000-fold dose of the BVDV Type 2 strain in Bovi-Shield GOLD FP 5 L5 resulted in no viral shedding, fever, clinical illness, immunosuppression or other side effects.4

Provides protection against four of the most common bovine viral respiratory and reproductive diseases, including BVD caused by BVDV Types 1 & 2, IBR, PI3 and BRSV.

Dosage and Administration

General Directions: Vaccination of healthy cattle is recommended. Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the liquid bacterin provided, shake well and administer 2 mL intramuscularly. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, this product should be administered in the muscular region of the neck.
Primary Vaccination: Administer a single 2-mL dose to healthy cattle, followed by a second dose of Bovi-Shield BRSV 3–4 weeks later to provide primary immunization against BRSV infection. As an aid in preventing IBR-induced abortion and BVDV persistently infected calves, administer a 2-mL dose approximately 1 month prior to breeding.
Revaccination: Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.

Precautions

1. Do not use in pregnant cows (abortions can result) unless they were vaccinated, according to label directions, with Bovi-Shield FP 4+L5, Bovi-Shield FP 4+VL5, Bovi-Shield GOLD FP 5 L5 or Bovi-Shield GOLD FP 5 VL5 within the past 12 months.
2. Use entire contents when first opened.
3. Sterilized syringes and needles should be used to administer this vaccine. Do not sterilize with chemicals because traces of disinfectant may inactivate the vaccine.
4. Burn containers and all unused contents.
5. Do not vaccinate within 21 days before slaughter.
6. Contains gentamicin as preservative.
7. As with many vaccines, anaphylaxis may occur after use. Initial antidote of epinephrine is recommended and should be followed with appropriate supportive therapy.
8. This product has been shown to be efficacious in healthy animals. A protective immune response may not be elicited if animals are incubating an infectious disease, are malnourished or parasitized, are stressed due to shipment or environmental conditions, are otherwise immunocompromised, or the vaccine is not administered in accordance with label directions.
9. For veterinary use only.
