Bee pollen contains a rich array of carotenoids, the family of natural plant antioxidants that includes beta-carotene. These are accompanied by low levels of a broad range of trace and ultra-trace minerals, plus enzymes and coenzymes. The primary ingredient of bee pollen, the pollen of many species of flowers, is a nutritious part of the horse's natural diet. Horses foraging on open range land benefit from these nutrients in wildflower pollen, but the domesticated horse feeding on hay and grain is deprived of this "Gift of Nature."
