Peptic Essentials was designed to support the gastrointestinal tract of horses subject to conditions that may predispose them to G.I. tract ulcers or horses that may already have an ulcer. Ulcers can be a problem for foals, adult horses, and horses under stress including racehorses, high strung horses, or show horses. There are numerous causes identified as causing ulcers. They can be due to increased stress (high levels of the stress hormone cortisol), bacterial infection or feeding programs high in soluble carbohydrates and low in fiber and can result in poor performance and body condition. Factors that reduce the acidity of the stomach, help rebuild protective mucosal layers in the G.I tract, support detoxification process or reduce cortisol levels may be able to reduce the incidence of ulcers.

 

Peptic Essentials contains ingredients that are helpful in decreasing the effects of ulcer instigators, improving detoxification, flushing of unwanted microorganisms, and normalizing gut pH. Chromium may help reduce cortisol concentration to decrease the risk of ulcers. Fermentation products of direct fed microbials encourage the growth of helpful bacteria, quickly re-establish microbial balance, and limit the proliferation of unwanted microorganisms. Natural Zeolites soak up toxins (like ammonia) and help with their removal from the body. Fungal derived enzymes from Aspergillus oryzae provide both protease and amylase enzymes to help break down proteins and starches so that digestion is more normalized, resulting in improved digestion and assimilation of nutrients from food, and reduces stress on the GI mucosa.
