The Most Powerful Dry Cow Therapy Indications QUARTERMASTER® (penicillin-dihydrostreptomycin in oil) Suspension is indicated for use in dairy cows at drying off to reduce the frequency of existing infection and to prevent new infection with Staphylococcus aureus in dry cows. Key Features Provides a potent combination of penicillin and dihydrostreptomycin Contains one million units of penicillin - up to 10 times stronger than other penicillin products and 1000 mg of dihydrostreptomycin Extended-action base gives long-lasting effectiveness Treats existing infections and fights new infections during dry period Withhold milk for 96 hours after calving; pre-slaughter withdrawal is 60 days Packaging QUARTERMASTER is supplied in individual disposable syringes of 10 mL in multi-syringe packages of 12 x 10 mL and cartons of 12 x 12 x 10 mL. Dosage/Administration At the last milking before drying off, completely milk out cow and use QUARTERMASTER as follows: 1. Warm the syringe to body temperature. 2. Clean and dry teats and udder thoroughly. 3. Using alcohol pads provided, scrub each teat and clean, using a separate pad for each teat. 4. Slowly infuse entire contents of the syringe. 5. Infuse the contents of one syringe into each quarter. Discard the syringe after use. 6. Treated teats should then be dipped into an effective teat dip. 7. The teat or quarter should not be manipulated again until the cow freshens. 8. To achieve and maintain a lower frequency of infection, proper dipping of teats during lactation is recommended. Precautions As with all drugs, QUARTERMASTER should not be used in animals found to be hypersensitive to the product. Not to be used within 6 weeks of freshening. Not for use in lactating cows. Milk taken from animals within 96 hours (8 milkings) after calving must not be used for food. Animals infused with this product must not be slaughtered for food within 60 days from time of infusion or within 96 hours after calving. Federal law restricts this drug to use by or on the order of a licensed veterinarian.
