Working well
June 23, 2009
Reviewer: Katie from Marietta, GA United States
My shih tzu has struggled with allergies for years. We have done it all, shots, pred..you name it.
Her derm finally put her on atopica and it is great, but she really could not handle any less than once daily so the $$$ was killing me.
He told me to try the generic and she has been on it now for 3 months. I cannot see any difference from the real stuff. She is doing just as well on it.
It is the best she has looked and felt in years.

Working for True
April 26, 2009
Reviewer: Rebecca from Baton Rouge, LA United States
We were on Atopica, three months every day, then switched to every other. It was working, but True really needed more. It was so expensive, though. I asked my vet to let me try the generic. She is on two day on, one day off, and it's working fantastically.

generic works great

According to pharmacists, a drug cannot be called "generic" unless it IS the same compound as the "name brand".
I've been using "generic" for 1 year on a dog with severe allergies. She finally has a thick coat at age 10.
If you switch to generic, stick with it. Literature says it takes weeks or months to see improvement. Like others here, it did take several months for all of her hair to grow back. It's a slow process.
She is on 100 mg. per day.
April 2009 update, I started using ProMeris flea/tick monthly in Nov 2008 to kill demodectic mites that my vet felt might be one of my dog's issues and I am seeing dramatic improvement. The ProMeris active ingredient of Amitraz is what is used in mange shampoo and it kills those darn mites and provides itch relief. I have been able to go to every third day with the 100 mg. cyclosporine capsule and have dramatically decreased my monthly costs.

Go for the real thing
January 10, 2008
Reviewer: Anonymous person from Kingston, ON Canada
My dog has had atopic dermatitis for 3 years now. After using Atopica from the vet all of his symptoms cleared up and he stop scratching within a few weeks.
I purchased the generic cyclosporine in an attempt to cost costs (after $1,000.00's in vet bills I'm sure you can relate). I found that after two months my dog is still scratching, and chewing his stomach and legs all of the time. He does however, have most of his hair back.
I'm going back to the name brand, the difference in cost is totally worth it.

cyclosporine/ atopica

Reviewer: kb from woodmere, NY United States
my austrailian shepherd developed allergies 6 months ago at age 3.5.
after a thousand dollars of vet bills for allergy tests, shots(steroids)and Benadryl, nothing helped, his belly was red with pimple like sores and his back paws were liked clean of hair. After 5 days of 100mg cyclosporine his belly is a mellow pink color with no soresand its on its way to being normal and he has totally stopped licking his paws and all the hair is growing back, first 2 days he threw up and then his system got used to the medication, HE'S DOING GREAT !!!
I would reccomend to all

cyclosporine/ atopica

I STATED USING ATOPICA 200MG DAILY AND THIS PILL REALLY WORKS AFTER YEARS OF FIGHTING ALLERGIES WITH MY GERMAN SHEPERD. AFTER $1000.00 FOR 10 WEEKS OF ATOPICA I PURCHASED THE GENERIC CYCLOSPORINE FROM ALLIVET. AFTER GIVING IT FOR A WEEK MY DOG STARTED TO LICK AND SCRATCH ALL OVER AGAIN. SOON AS I GAVE HER ONE DOSE OF THE BRAND NAME ATOPICA SHE STOPPED ITCHING AGAIN. SO TO SUM IT UP IF TO EXPENSIVE FOR YOU TO BUY TRY TO MIX AND MATCH TO HELP CUT COST. SINCE I STARTED ATOPICA MY DOG IS HAPPY AS A PUPPY AGAIN AND LOOKING GREAT.
