StayBred VL5 prevents vibriosis (campylobacteriosis) associated with Campylobacter fetus. It also prevents Leptospirosis associated with Leptospira canicola, Leptospira pomona, Leptospira hardjo, Leptospira grippotyphosa, and Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae.
What does Stay Bred VL5 do?
This vaccine contains oil-adjuvanted and chemically-inactivated Campylobacter fetus and chemically-inactivated Leptospira cultures of Leptospira pomona, Leptospira canicola, Leptospira icterohaemorrhagiae, Leptospira hardjo, and Leptospira grippotyphosa.
Stay Bred VL5 side effects
  • Occasionally, hypersensitivity reactions have occurred up to 18 hours after vaccination. Observe your animal during this period. While the occurrence is rare, it is more common in dairy cattle than other cattle. Affected animals may show signs of dyspnea, incoordination, or excessive salivation. If these signs are noted, immediate epinephrine treatment should be administered. If the animal is not responsive, other treatments should be performed.
  • Anaphylaxis can occur after vaccination and should be treated using epinephrine and other supportive therapies.

Overview
1. General Directions: Vaccination of healthy cows and heifers is recommended. Shake well. Aseptically administer 2 mL intramuscularly. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, this product should be administered in the muscular region of the neck.
 
2. Primary Vaccination: Administer two 2-mL doses 2-4 weeks apart to all breeding-age cows and heifers 30-60 days before exposure or being added to the breeding herd.
 
3. Revaccination: Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.
 
4. Good animal husbandry and herd health management practices should be employed.
