What does Prednisolone Acetate 1% Ophthalmic Suspension - 5 ml do?
Prednisolone acetate contains 3 to 5 times the anti-inflammatory power of hydrocortisone based on weight. This product is a glucocorticoid which inhibits:
  • Phagocytic migration
  • Capillary dilation
  • Fibrin deposition
  • Edema
  • (all of the acute inflammatory response)
  • Scar formation
  • Deposition of collagen
  • Capillary proliferation
Prednisolone Acetate 1% Ophthalmic Suspension - 5 ml side effects
Using corticosteroids for a prolonged period of time could damage the optic nerve from the development of glaucoma. It could also cause formation of posterior subcapsular cataracts or defects in fields of vision and visual acuity.
Secondary ocular infections have an increased risk, as prolonged use may suppress the immune response.

What to know before using Prednisolone Acetate 1% Ophthalmic Suspension - 5 ml
Talk to your doctor about other eye medication or drops your pet is using before you use Prednisolone Acetate Ophthalmic Suspension 1%.

Contact your veterinarian immediately if your pet has any of the following symptoms:
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Itching
  • Facial swelling
Avoid touching the dropper to all surfaces, especially hands and eyes. Note: blurred vision may be caused by this medication.

Tips for using Prednisolone Acetate 1% Ophthalmic Suspension - 5 ml
Before using, shake product well. Two to four times a day, apply 1 to 2 drops onto the eye.

Dosing frequency can be increased if needed during the first 24 to 48 hours of administration.

Do not discontinue therapy early, even if your pet seems to be getting better.
Overview
Shake well before using. Instill one to two drops into the conjunctival sac two to four times daily. During the initial 24 to 48 hours, the dosing frequency may be increased if necessary. Care should be taken not to discontinue therapy prematurely.
