It is also cryoprotective, helping to protect frozen tissue. Lastly, it is a potent antioxidant that works to scavenge free radicals, which are the incredibly reactive molecules that are known to intensify aging and disease.

- Generally, side effects are local. While they might be irritating to the animal, they are typically non-severe. When topically applied, sometimes the animal will develop short-term erythema resulting in local smarting or burning. Vesiculation and erythema are usually reversible and self-limiting, requiring no withdrawal of medication.
- An oyster-like breath odor and skin dryness are also possible. These reactions are temporary and non-severe.
- Nuclear cataracts and refractive index eye lens changes have occurred in some animals, which appears to be related to therapy duration and dosage.

- Avoid skin contact.
- Wear rubber gloves to apply this medication.
- Swabs and forceps are helpful in application.
- If DMSO absorbs through the animal's skin, it will result in an unpleasant taste in the mouth and breath odor.
- Some people exposed to this drug have experienced mild erythematous generalized or localized dermatitis, itching, burning, warm sensations, drowsiness, or mild sedation. In these cases, symptomatic treatment is the antidote.
- If any side effects occur, seek immediate veterinary attention.

Directions ::
