What does Spectramast LC Lactating Cow Formula do?
Ceftiofur is a comprehensive antibiotic of the cephalosporin class. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the cell wall of bacteria. Like many other types of ß-lactam antimicrobial agent, antibiotics in the cephalosporin class inhibit the synthesis of the cell wall by interfering with peptidoglycan synthesis-essential enzymes. This causes bacterial cell lysis, which is responsible for the bactericidal activity of the agents. Ceftiofur works against Escherichia coli, Streptococcus dysgalactiae, and coagulase-negative staphylococci.
