What does Derma-Gel do?
Derma GeL® ensures a moist environment to maintain viability of epithelial cells to 97%, enabling healing cells to migrate across the bed of the wound, multiply, and enhance healing of the wound by increasing the contraction speed of the wound. The moist environment disallows scab formation, which promotes wound healing from the bottom and sides. A moisture-free wound forms a scab. To heal, epithelial cells must migrate below the scab and reach moisture, enabling healing. Epithelial cells that have to migrate further do not typically survive, which delays healing of the wound.
