Scourguard 4KC vaccinates pregnant cows to protect calves from scour. This protection comes through the cow's colostrum. This vaccine prevents diarrhea in calves associated with Clostridium perfringens type C, enterotoxigenic E. coli with K99 pill adherence factor, bovine coronavirus, and bovine rotavirus (serotypes G10 and G6).

ScourGuard 4KC is effective in preventing diarrhea in calves of vaccinated dams caused by Cl. perfringens type C, E. coli, bovine coronavirus, and bovine rotavirus (serotypes G10 and G6).
What does Scourguard 4 K C do?
ScourGuard 4KC is a liquid preparation that contains inactivated coronavirus and bovine rotavirus (serotypes G10 and G6), K99 E. coli bacterin, and Cl. perfringens type C toxoid. It is also adjuvanted, which works to enhance the immune response.
Scourguard 4 K C side effects
  • Anaphylaxis can occur with this and many other vaccines. If this occurs, epinephrine should be administered, and veterinary attention should be sought.
  • A transient increase of temperature could occur after vaccinating.

What to know before using Scourguard 4 K C
  • Keep out of reach of children.
  • Entire contents should be used after opening.
  • This vaccine contains merthiolate and gentamicin as preservatives.
  • Never vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter.
  • Use only in healthy animals. Appropriate immune response may not be achieved in unhealthy animals.
  • Use a sterilized needle and syringe to administer.

Overview
General Directions: Vaccination of healthy, pregnant cows and heifers is recommended. Shake well. Aseptically administer 2 mL intramuscularly (IM) only. In accordance with Beef Quality Assurance guidelines, this product should be administered in the muscular region of the neck.
 
Primary Vaccination: Administer 2 IM doses approximately 3 weeks apart to pregnant cows, with the second dose given 3-6 weeks before calving.
 
Revaccination: Revaccination with a single dose 3-6 weeks before each subsequent calving is recommended.
 
Good animal husbandry and herd health management practices, including annual revaccination, should be employed.
