Draxxin Tulathromycin is the very first in a brand new subclass of macrolides called triamilides. Formulated by Pfizer Animal Health, Draxxin is now considered the first-line treatment for bovine respiratory disease (BRD). It offers superior treatment of the disease, along with extraordinary BRD control efficacy in high-risk cattle.
Which animals/pets is Draxxin for?
For use in swine, beef cattle, and dairy calves.
Draxxin offers exceptional efficacy against BRD (bovine respiratory disease). One dose offers full-course, convenient therapy. This medication is effective against the three primary pathogens that cause BRD.
Draxxin is a sterile, ready-to-use injectable parenteral preparation that contains the active ingredient tulathromycin. This ingredient is a triamilide macrolide antibiotic of semi-synthetic origin.
Draxxin resulted in some short-term head-shaking after treating animals with the recommended dose. In a field study, 2 calves showed signs of hypersalivation, and one of those calves also encountered dyspnea (difficulty breathing). The dyspnea could have been pneumonia-related.
