Who is TSV-2 for?

For use in healthy cattle (including pregnant cows).

Why use TSV-2?

TSV-2® works as quickly as 24 hours after vaccination to neutralize inhaled IBR and PI3 viruses.

How does TSV-2 work?

TSV-2® contains modified live parainfluenza3 (PI3) and infectious bovine rhinotracheitis (IBR) viruses. It is administered nasally and begins working quickly to neutralize these viruses upon inhalation.

Manufacturer:

Zoetis

Active ingredient(s):

Bovine Rhinotracheitis-Parainfluenza3 Vaccine, Modified Live Virus

How is TSV-2 sold?

10, 25, or 50 ds vial

What are the side effects of TSV-2?

Anaphylaxis could occur after administration. An initial epinephrine antidote should be administered before following up with supportive therapies.

What special precautions are there?

  • Any unused contents and containers should be burned before disposal.
  • Only healthy animals should be vaccinated.
  • Never vaccinate within 21 days of slaughter.
  • Entire contents should be used upon opening.

What to do if overdose?

Contact your closest emergency animal hospital.

How can I store TSV-2?

Store at 2°-7°C. Prolonged exposure to higher temperatures and/or direct sunlight may adversely affect potency. Do not freeze.

Helpful Tips:

TSV-2® is a unique vaccine because the virus strains used in the formula are temperature-specific. They are proven not to grow above the normal body temperature of a cow, which restricts the replication of these viruses to the nasal mucosa. The nasal mucosa are constantly maintained at temperatures below 39°C, even when the cow has a fever. The nasal mucosa are also consistently ventilated. Because of this, the viruses are replicated and stimulated locally, providing the cow with immunity.

How To Use

Overview

1. General Directions: Vaccination of healthy cattle, including pregnant cows, is recommended. Aseptically rehydrate the freeze-dried vaccine with the sterile diluent provided, shake well, and administer 2 mL intranasally using a cannula or a syringe with the needle removed. Place half the dose (1 mL) in each nostril.

2. Primary Vaccination: Administer a single 2-mL dose to healthy cattle. Calves vaccinated before the age of 6 months should be revaccinated after 6 months of age to avoid possible maternal antibody interference with immunization.

3. Revaccination: Annual revaccination with a single dose is recommended.

4. Good animal husbandry and herd health management practices should be employed.
