Viceton (Chloramphenicol) is an oral antibiotic for cats and dogs, used to treat many common bacterial infections (ex. urinary tract, skin and respiratory tract infections)

For use in cats and dogs.

Why use Viceton (Chloramphenicol) Tablets?

Viceton is useful in treating dogs for:
  • Infections caused by susceptible microorganism-related canine distemper, including Neisseria catarrhalis, Shigella spp., Proteus spp., Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, and Bordetella bronchiseptica
  • Enteritis associated with such susceptible microorganisms as Pseudomonas spp., Salmonella spp., Proteus spp, and Escherichia coli
  • Urinary tract infections associated with susceptible microorganisms like hemolytic Staphylococcus, Streptococcus spp., Corynebacterium renale, Proteus vulgaris, and Escherichia coli
  • Bacterial pulmonary infections associated with susceptible microorganisms like Brucella bronchiseptica, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus

How does Viceton (Chloramphenicol) Tablets work?

This comprehensive antibiotic has proven to be effective against many types of organisms. In low concentrations, this medication is bacteriostatic against specific large viruses, Mycoplasma, many rickettsiae, spirochetes, and several gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

What are the side effects of Viceton (Chloramphenicol) Tablets?

In experiments, some female animals have experienced significant morphology and gonad function disorders.

What special precautions are there?

  • Due to the potential for antagonism, never administer this medication concomitantly with streptomycin or penicillin.
  • Do not administer to breeding animals.

How can I store Viceton (Chloramphenicol) Tablets?

Store in a dry and cool environment. 77 degrees F (25 degrees Celcius).

Chloramphenicol reaches its maximum serum level quickly after intraperitoneal, intravenous, or oral administration. When injected intramuscularly (except in some soluble forms), this medication exhibits lower serum levels and slower absorption than the other listed methods of administration.
