Helpful Tips:

Intended to be used in conjunction with AlphaTRAK™ Blood Glucose Monitering System, a product of Abbot Animal Health.

To obtain a drop of blood:
1. Gather supplies needed: lancing device, lancet.
2. Wash hands with warm soapy water. Dry thoroughly.
3. Remove the lancing device cap with a twisting motion.
4. Insert a new lancet into holder. Push until the lancet comes to a complete stop inside the device
5. Remove the lancet’s safety tab by twisting until loose. Save the safety tab for lancet disposal.
6. Carefully replace the cap as shown and avoid contact with the needle. Make sure the cap is fully seated on the device.
7. Select depth of penetration by rotating depth adjustment cap. Start with the medium depth setting ?rst. If this depth setting does not produce enough blood, use a deeper setting by rotating the cap to the longest marker and try again. If the medium depth setting produces enough blood, a shallower depth setting may produce enough blood with less discomfort.
8. The clear cap may be used, in place of the depth setting cap, for better observation of the testing site. Greater pressure of the lancing device against the testing site can be used to increase the puncture depth when using the clear cap.
9. Pull the charger to reset the device. You may hear a click.
10.Prior to testing make sure the testing site is clean and dry and select a comfortable and well-lit location for you and
your pet.
11. Warming and massaging the test site will encourage good blood ? ow.
12. Hold the lancing device ? rmly with the depth adjustment cap, or the clear cap, against the selected testing site. Push the release button to obtain blood drop. When using the clear cap applying continued pressure to the test site, may help with the formation of a blood drop.
13. Bring the AlphaTRAK™ meter and test strip to the blood drop. Gently touch only one side of the test strip to the
blood sample. Ensure the sample touches the thin side of the test strip in the black rectangular area. Capillary action
will pull the sample into the test strip.
14. Remove the lancing device cap with a twisting motion.
15. To prevent an accidental needle stick place the lancet safety tab on a hard surface. Carefully stick the lancet tip
into the safety tab as shown.
16. Press the release button to allow access to the covered lancet. Pull the lancet straight out of the holder and
dispose of the lancet in an appropriate sharps container.
17. Replace the cap to prevent loss of cap.
Cleaning: The entire device can be washed with mild detergent and water. The device may also be cleaned with
isopropyl alcohol (available in the USA) or a solution of 1 part bleach and 10 parts water. The device should be rinsed
thoroughly and dried between use
