Phenylbutazone Paste 20 gm tube contains phenylbutazone a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory for the management of musculoskeletal conditions in horses. Usual dosage is 1-2 grams per 500 lbs of body weight, but not to exceed 4 gms daily. Comes in tasty Apple Flavor horses love.

Phenylbutazone Paste is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug. It also has analgesic (pain relief) and antipyretic (fever-reducing) effects and is indicated for the treatment of a wide range of musculoskeletal disorders, including muscular sprain and strain, muscular overuse (including both muscular damage and strain/damage of the tendons attaching muscles to bone), tendonitis, acute joint injury/strain/sprain, and arthritic conditions.

What are the side effects of Phenylbutazone Paste for Horses, 20 gm?

Stop medication at the first sign of gastrointestinal upset, jaundice, or blood dyscrasia. Authenticated cases of agranulocytosis associated with the drug have occurred in man; fatal reactions, although rare, have been reported in dogs after long-term therapy. To guard against this possibility, conduct routine blood counts at weekly intervals during the early phase of therapy and at intervals of two weeks thereafter. Any significant fall in the total white count, relative decrease in granulocytes, or black or tarry stools, should be regarded as a signal for immediate cessation of therapy and institution of appropriate countermeasures.

What special precautions are there?

Phenylbutazone should not be administered to animals with serious heptic, renal or cardiac pathology, or those with a history of blood dyscrasia.
