These pre-cut hoof pads offer no-mess, convenient application. These easy to remove, easy to apply pads contain natural poulticing agents, including tragacanth gum, along with a mild antiseptic - boric acid - that helps manage swelling, heat, and abscesses.



How is Animalintex Hoof Poultice sold?

What special precautions are there?

  • For use in horses. Also safe for dogs, but not recommended for cat use.
  • Tend to any wounds if skin is broken.
  • Never bandage tightly.
  • Poultice should be applied with the plastic facing away from the horse.
  • Wash hands prior to and after handling.
  • For external use only.
  • Poultice should be changed every 12 hours.

How to Use Animalintex Hoof Poultice Pads:

When using as a dry wound dressing:
  • Gently clean the application area.
  • Position the poultice with the plastic backing facing away from the sole. Cover the poultice with Vetrap tape.
When using as a cold or hot wet poultice:
  • Gently clean the application area.
  • Place the poultice in a shallow, clean container with the plastic backing facing up.
  • If using as a hot, wet poultice, pour hot, potable water (100°F) around the edges of the poultice within the container.
  • If using as a cold, wet poultice, use cool, potable water instead.
  • Once the poultice is saturated, squeeze excess water out gently.
  • Position the poultice on the hoof with the plastic backing facing away from the sole.
  • Cover the poultice with Vetrap tape.
