Product Description

Droncit Injection is a cestocide that contains 56.8mg of praziquantel in every mL It can be intramuscularly or subcutaneously administered to cats or dogs to remove tapeworms (cestodes).

What is Droncit Injection (Praziquantel)?

Praziquantel, the single active ingredient in Droncit (Praziquantel) Injectable damages the tapeworm's skin in such a way that it cannot resist digestion by its host. Dogs and cats can easily be rid of two species of tapeworms with Droncit pet medications.

Who is Droncit Injection (Praziquantel) for?

For use in cats, dogs, kittens (over 1 month and 1.5 pounds), and puppies (over 3 weeks and 2 pounds).

Why use Droncit Injection (Praziquantel)?

Droncit Injection contains praziquantel to kill tapeworms. It can be injected subcutaneously or intramuscularly, and it is a great oral medication alternative.

How does Droncit Injection (Praziquantel) work?

Droncit is absorbed, then metabolized by the liver and excreted by the bile into the pet's digestive tract. This is where the cestocidal action occurs. After exposure to praziquantel, tapeworms lose their ability to resist host digestion, so they are rarely passed whole after administration of this medication. Typically, only partially-digested and disintegrated tapeworm pieces will be seen in the treated animal's stool. Most killed tapeworms will be fully digested and never found within the stool. This medication removes these cestodes in cats:
  • Dipylidium caninum.
  • Taenia taeniaeformis
And these in dogs:
  • Echinococcus granulosus
  • Taenia pisiformis
  • Dipylidium caninum
  • Echinococcus multilocularis (controls and removes)
