What does Famotidine Tablet do?
Famotidine is part of the histamine receptor-2 blocker class and acts as an anti-ulcer drug. When H-2 receptors exist in membranes of cells, stimulation of stomach cells occurs and it causes gastric acid to be secreted. This drug works to help ulcers heal by preventing gastric acid secretion through the blockage of H-2 receptors.

In animals, some side effects from Famotidine may occur. For animals with an allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug, it should not be administered. For animals with known liver or kidney disease, use extreme caution when prescribing this drug.

Tips for using Famotidine Tablet
This medication should be stored in a cool, dry place at 77 degrees Fahrenheit or under. The duration, frequency, and dosage of treatment with this medication will vary from animal to animal, so you should always follow your veterinarian's dosage instructions.
Overview
The recommended dose of Famotidine to be administered to pets is 0.25 to 0.5 mg per pound (0.5 to 1.0 mg/kg) every 12 to 24 hours.If you miss a dose while giving your pet Famotidine, administer is as soon as your remember during the same day. However, if you do not remember until the next day, skip the missed dose and only give your pet the next regularly scheduled dose. Do not give your pet a double dose of Famotidine.
