Vitamin E is the top bodily antioxidant. It works to protect individual cells, and it is a component of every bodily cell of the horse. It is uniquely able to cross into the joints, skin, heart, eyes, liver, brain, and spinal cord. In addition to its antioxidant properties, Vitamin E is a powerful anti-inflammatory ingredient in high levels. Horses do not naturally make Vitamin E, so daily supplementation is required in order to maintain appropriate tissue and blood levels and protect the horse's bodily cells. Nerve tissue, in particular, needs Vitamin E for proper function. Horses can become deficient quickly when they are engaged in moderate or high levels of physical activity.

Synthetic Vitamin E is not as powerful as natural forms of the vitamin. The body is more efficient in transporting and delivering natural forms of Vitamin E to target the bodily tissue. Research has shown that natural Vitamin E can be twice or even three times as potent as synthetic Vitamin E!
