Diltiazem HCL Tablets are indicated for the treatment of a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
Diltiazem causes vasodilatation. It decreases cardiac afterload, blood pressure, and peripheral resistance, and it slows the firing rate of the sinus. At normal doses, it offers a lower likelihood of cardiac contractility effects than some other Ca channel blockers. It is rapidly absorbed after oral administration, then metabolized by the liver.
Sold by the tablet in 30 mg, 60 mg, or 90 mg strengths.
Vomiting is the most frequently reported adverse reaction. Other potential reactions include:
- Heart arrythmias
- Slow heart rate
- Listlessness
- Low blood pressure
