What does Simplicef Tablet do?
Simplicef is an effective treatment against most gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria. Cephalosporin antibiotics work by suppressing the growth of microorganisms like protozoa, fungi, or bacteria. Simplicef is easily-absorbed by the intestinal tract, then carried to the bloodstream to many of the body's tissues. For effectiveness, Simplicef should be administered for many days in a row. If any doses are missed or if the course of treatment is not completed, the infection may worsen or recur. Speak with your veterinarian if your pet's condition worsens or fails to improve following Simplicef treatment.
Simplicef Tablet side effects
While adverse reactions with cefpodoxime are rare, you could notice diarrhea, vomiting, or decreased appetite. If your pet exhibits any of these reactions, notify your veterinarian.

Tips for using Simplicef Tablet
Simplicef boasts a long half-life, which means that convenient, once-daily dosing is possible. This results in greater compliance and allows for better clinical outcomes.
Overview
Give this medication exactly as directed by your veterinarian.

Simplicef should be given with food to increase absorption in the body. Keep plenty of water available for your pet to drink. Do not give Simplicef at the same time as giving antacids such as Maalox or other stomach acid reducers such as Tagamet as this may decrease the absorption of Simplicef. Give all of the Simplicef even if your pet appears to be better. Symptoms may improve before the infection is completely treated.

The usual dose of Simplicef in dogs is 2.3-4.5mg/pound, given by mouth, once a day for 5 to 7 days or 2 to 3 days beyond the cessation of clinical signs, up to a maximum of 28 days.
