Tips for using Sileo Gel for Dogs (Dexmedetomidine Oromucosal) 0.09 mg/ml, 3 ml syringe
In conjunction with Sileo, there are several easy steps you can take to modify your dog's home environment and help ease stress. These include:
  • Act normally through noise - for example, watch TV, read a book, or play with your dog.
  • Be present. Your present comforts your dog.
  • Encourage your dog to have a safe haven, such as a soundproof bathroom, closet, or basement.
  • Limit visual stimulation during fireworks by keeping the room brightly lit and closing the curtains.
  • Play music to mask scary noises. Classical music has been proven to have a calming effect in some dogs.
  • Minimize or restrict exposure to noises that scare your dog.
There are also several actions you can avoid to help your dog (and you) better cope during a noise event. These include:
  • Do not pet your dog or say "It's okay." This sends a message that it is okay to bark, pant, or pace during the noise event.
  • Do not punish your dog for damaging property or having accidents during a noise event. This makes them even more afraid of the noise. Keep in mind that they are not misbehaving. They are acting out of fear.
Always contact your veterinarian if your dog exhibits noise aversion behaviors.
