Clomicalm Tablets Description
Clomicalm (clomipramine hydrochloride) is an effective treatment of canine separation anxiety as part of a behavioral management regimen. Clomicalm tablets may help alleviate inappropriate barking and help eliminate urination or defecation, as well as destructive behavior.
What is Clomicalm Tablets?
Clomicalm oral medication and behavior modification tablets relieve the suffering of separation anxiety in dogs and works as Step 2 in training your dog, by making it easier for your dog to learn new/positive behaviors.

For use in dogs over the age of 6 months.

What does Clomicalm Tablets do?
Clomicalm is a tricyclic antidepressant. It alters the levels of specific brain chemicals, especially serotonin. Serotonin is associated with positive emotions. After a neuron releases serotonin, it is collected by an uptake receptor and recycled. The clomipramine hydrochloride in Clomicalm binds to that receptor and prevents the removal of excess serotonin, increasing the positive neural signal in the brain.

While Clomicalm is generally well-tolerated, the following side effects may occur:
- Elevated liver enzymes
- Depression
- Vomiting
- Lethargy
- Increased thirst
- Diarrhea

What to know before using Clomicalm Tablets
Clomicalm:
- Should not be used alongside Anipryl (selegiline) tablets or Preventic collar
- Should only be administered with veterinarian approval
- Should not be administered to breeding dogs
Clomicalm should be carefully and thoughtfully administered to dogs with:
- Epilepsy
- Cardiovascular dysfunction
- Urinary retention
- Reduced gastrointestinal motility
- Narrow angle glaucoma

Tips for using Clomicalm Tablets
While administering Clomicalm with food is not a necessity and the medication will still work effectively without doing so, food could reduce the likelihood of vomiting.
CLOMICALM is administered orally at a dose of 1 - 2 mg/kg clomipramine twice daily to give a total daily dose of 2 - 4 mg/kg

CLOMICALM may potentiate the effects of CNS active drugs. The administration of CLOMICALM is not recommended in combination with, or within 2 weeks of therapy with, monoamine oxidase inhibitors.The use of CLOMICALM is not authorized in breeding dogs. In dogs with cardiovascular dysfunction, epilepsy, narrow angle glaucoma, reduced gastrointestinal motility or urinary retention, CLOMICALM should be given with caution and only after an assessment of the benefit risk ratio.
