Tamsulosin hydrochloride is an alpha1 adrenoceptor antagonist used to treat the symptoms and signs of benign prostatic hyperplasia. It may also be prescribed to facilitate passage of ureteroliths and nephroliths, and to treat detrusor-urethral dyssynergia or urinary obstruction.

Tamsulosin hydrochloride capsules are an alpha1 adrenoceptor antagonist indicated for treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia. Could also be potentially useful to facilitate passage of nephroliths and ureteroliths, and for treating functional urinary obstruction, or detrusor-urethral dyssynergia

Features of Tamsulosin Hydrochloride:
  • May be used to treat the symptoms and signs of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH or prostatic enlargement)
  • May be useful in facilitating passage of ureteroliths and nephroliths
  • Could be an effective treatment for detrusor-urethral dyssynergia (DESD) or functional urinary obstruction (UO)
What does Tamsulosin Hydrochloride Capsule, 0.4 mg do?
Tamsulosin Hydrochloride makes urinating easier by relaxing the muscles in the bladder neck and prostate. It is an alpha-blocker.
Tamsulosin Hydrochloride Capsule, 0.4 mg side effects
Tamsulosin Hydrochloride can cause temporary infertility in dogs due to reactions such as a temporary reduction in ejaculate volume.

Higher dosages could result in hypotension.

If any symptoms of toxicity are observed, discontinue use and inform your pet's veterinarian. These symptoms include:
  • Vomiting
  • Lethargy
  • Ataxia (impaired coordination)
  • Tremors
  • Excessive lacrimation (tears)
  • Eye redness
  • Excessive salivation
