Product Overview
Amoxicillin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic prescribed by veterinarians to treat a variety of infections in dogs, cats, horses, birds, and fish. It works by inhibiting bacteria growth by preventing the formation of cell walls in bacterial cells. It is intended for treatment of bacterial infections only. Amoxicillin comes in capsule form and is sold per capsule.
Amoxicillin is a synthetic penicillin-type antibiotic, which is effective in treating a range of infections caused by gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
Amoxicillin is intended for use in a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, horses, birds, and fish.
Amoxicillin is used to treat bacterial infections and not parasitic or viral infections. It can also be effective in the treatment of skin infection, wounds, and lower respiratory tract infections.
Located in the interior of the bacterial cell wall, amoxicillin works by binding to penicillin-binding protein 1A (PBP-1A). The lactam ring is opened when Penicillins acylate with the penicillin-sensitive transpeptidase C-terminal domain. To hinder the last and third stage of bacterial cell wall synthesis, the cross-link of two linear peptidoglycan strands stops the development through an inactivation of that particular enzyme.

Common side effects of Amoxicillin include:
- upset stomach
- vomiting
- diarrhea
Formulations of Amoxicillin contain Amoxicillin, a semisynthetic antibiotic, an analog of ampicillin, with a broad spectrum of bactericidal activity against many gram-positive and gram-negative microorganisms.

If your pet is taking supplements, vitamins, probenecid or methotrexate, or bacteriostatic antibiotics, consult your veterinarian before use of this medication. Complications or interactions may occur if your pet is already taking these medications or supplements.
