Pimobendan helps manage congestive heart failure in dogs by increasing the heart’s pumping strength and relaxing blood vessels, which reduces symptoms, improves exercise tolerance, and enhances your dog’s quality of life.
Pimobendan is a dual-action inodilator that increases the strength of the heart muscle’s contractions (positive inotropy) while relaxing blood vessels (vasodilation), allowing the heart to pump more efficiently with less effort.
Side effects may include decreased appetite, vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and difficulty breathing. Consult your veterinarian if any unusual symptoms occur.

Keep away from children and animals. Pimobendan is contraindicated in dogs with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, aortic stenosis, or other conditions where increased cardiac output is inappropriate, and it should be used with caution in those with severe liver impairment, uncontrolled arrhythmias, diabetes, congenital heart defects, or in pregnant/lactating/breeding dogs.
Sold in strengths of 1.25 mg, 2.5 mg, 5 mg or 10 mg in 50 ct or 100 ct (2 x 50 ct) bottles.

Pimobendan is administered orally at a total daily dose of 0.5 mg/kg (0.23 mg/lb) body weight, divided into two portions (not necessarily equal) given approximately 12 hours apart (e.g., morning and evening), using any combination of whole or half scored tablets to the nearest half-tablet increment, ideally one hour before feeding.
