Doxycycline Monohydrate Capsules are a bacteriostatic antibiotic treatment for infections like Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Lyme disease, Chlamydia, and bacterial infections that are caused by susceptible organisms.
Doxycycline is an antibiotic commonly used to treat many diseases carried by ticks, it is used to treat susceptible infections such as erlichiosis, Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain spotted fever, salmon poisoning, toxoplasmosis and leptospirosis.
For use in horses, cats, and dogs.
Doxycycline is an effective treatment for tick-borne disease, including Lyme Disease. It is sometimes preferred over Tetracycline because it is longer-lasting.
Doxycycline prevents protein production in bacteria. These proteins are essential to the reproduction and growth of bacteria. Therefore, this medication stops infection from spreading, which allows the immune system to kill existing bacteria.
The most frequently reported adverse reactions to doxycycline are vomiting and nausea. Typically, this symptom can be resolved by administering this medication with food.
Note: Other medications from the tetracycline class should not be administered with food because food binds the drug, affecting the absorption. This effect is not typical for doxycycline.

- Avoid dairy products and milk when taking Doxycycline, unless expressly recommended by your veterinarian.
- Do not give this medication to dogs with kidney or liver disorders.
- Inform your veterinarian of any tetracycline allergies or any other similar antibiotics (Panmycin, Dynacin, Minocin, Declomycin, Sumycin) prior to giving this medication to your pet.
- Because this medication impedes bone growth, it should not be administered to nursing or pregnant dogs.
