Equi-Jec 6 is a combination equine vaccination that protects against six infectious diseases, including Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE), Western Equine Encephalitis (WEE), Equine Herpesvirus (Equine Rhinopneumonitis), Equine Influenza, West Nile Virus (WNV) and Tetanus. No need to order syringes or needles as the pre-filled syringes contain the combination in a convenient 1 mL vaccine, meaning fewer needle sticks and less pain for the horse. This 6-way horse vaccine is approved for immunization of pregnant mares and horses 4 months old and older. Safety studies of 880 horses showed 98% were reaction free after two doses of Equi-Jec 6.1 Equi-Jec 6 offers a 12-month duration of immunity for West Nile Virus. Consult your veterinarian if a booster shot is recommended as a result of your geography or travel routine.

Equi-Jec 6 is an aid in the prevention of disease caused by Eastern and Western Encephalomyelitis and Tetanus; and as an aid in the reduction of respiratory disease caused by Equine Influenza virus (EIV), and Rhinopneumonitis (Equine Herpesvirus types EHV-1 and EHV-4); as an aid in reduction of severity of clinical disease, and an aid in the prevention of viremia and mortality caused by West Nile Virus. Equi-Jec 6 contains Kentucky Lineage (KY/95), Florida sublineage clade 1 (OH/03), and Eurasian Newmarket/2/93 (NM 2/93) equine influenza strains. The duration of immunity is at least 6 months for OH/03 and at least 12 months for West Nile Virus.
What does Equi-Jec 6 Vaccine for Horses, 1 pre-filled syringe do?
This product has been shown to be effective for the vaccination of healthy horses 4 months of age or older, including pregnant mares, against eastern and western encephalomyelitis (EEE & WEE), west nile virus (WNV), and tetanus, and against respiratory disease due to equine herpesvirus types 1 and 4 (EHV-1 & EHV-4) and A2 equine influenza virus (EIV). The duration of immunity against EIV is at least 6 months and against WNV is at least 12 months. The duration for the remaining organisms has not been determined.

Overview
Shake well before use. Using aseptic technique, vaccinate horses intramuscularly with a 1 ml dose. Administer a second 1 ml dose intramuscularly in 3-4 weeks using a different injection site. The need for annual booster vaccinations has not been established for this product. Consultation with a veterinarian is recommended.
