Product Overview

Ketoconazole is a broad-spectrum antifungal medication commonly prescribed by veterinarians to help treat fungal infections in cats, dogs, birds, horses, and other animals. It works by targeting the growth of harmful fungi, supporting effective treatment and improved skin and overall health under veterinary supervision.

Appearance: Beige, with brown to light brown speckling; circular quadrisected tablet.

For use in dogs and cats.
Be sure to discuss any side effects your pet experiences while taking ketoconazole with your veterinarian immediately. The most common side effects are nausea, vomiting, and loss of appetite. Liver toxicity (more frequently in cats than in other animals), decreased platelet count, and temporary lightening of the hair coat are less common side effects. Topical preparations containing ketoconazole (such as transdermal gels, ointments, creams, etc.) may also cause irritation at the site of application.

Overdose of ketoconazole may cause more severe reactions similar to those listed previously in the side effects section. If you suspect your pet or another animal was accidentally overdosed or has eaten this medication inadvertently, contact your veterinarian or the A.S.P.C.A.'s Animal Poison Control Center at 888.426.4435. Always bring the prescription container with you when you take your pet for treatment. If you or someone else has accidentally ingested this medication call the National Capital Poison Center at 800.222.1222.

Ketoconazole is a prescription drug and should be used according to your veterinarian's directions, and it should only be given to the animal for which it was prescribed. Do not give this medication to a person. Ketoconazole should not be given to animals that are allergic to it, or drugs like it. Ketoconazole should be used with caution in animals that have liver disease or in animals that are pregnant or nursing.
