Product Overview

Set your cows and replacement heifers up for a healthier lactation with LOCKOUT teat sealant. While most teat sealants are white, which can be confused with mastitis at first milking, LOCKOUT teat sealant is blue, so you can be certain what you’re seeing is sealant and avoid unnecessary labor and treatment. LOCKOUT teat sealant is antibiotic-free, and forms a physical barrier inside the teat canal to help prevent bacteria from entering and causing mastitis. It’s also compatible with intramammary antibiotics to integrate seamlessly into your dry cow program. For easily distinguishable mastitis prevention in the dry period, choose LOCKOUT — the unmistakable teat sealant.
Non-lactating dairy cows during the dry period, as well as in replacement heifers.
• Highly visible blue paste, easily distinguishable at first milking. • Helps prevent mastitis during the dry period. • Antibiotic-free teat sealant. • Compatible with standard dry cow therapy protocols. • Labeled for use in replacement heifers.
LOCKOUT teat sealant contains bismuth subnitrate in a sterile paste that remains in the teat canal until removed at calving. The sealant creates a physical barrier that mimics the natural keratin plug, helping block bacteria from entering the udder and establishing infections.
No systemic side effects are expected. In rare cases, improper administration may increase the risk of new intramammary infections.

LOCKOUT WITHDRAWAL INFORMATION: LOCKOUT requires no milk or pre-slaughter withdrawal when used alone. If dry cow treatment is used in conjunction with LOCKOUT, follow recommended antibiotic withdrawal times per the label. Caution/Precautions: • For intramammary use in non-lactating cows and heifers only. • Do not use in lactating dairy cows. • Do not massage teat sealant into the udder. • If using with intramammary antibiotics, observe all labeled withdrawal periods for the antibiotic product.
LOCKOUT teat sealant is available in single-dose syringes, each containing 4 grams of paste, sufficient for one teat. LOCKOUT teat sealant is available in a pail containing 144 syringes, sufficient for 36 animals.

Dosage Instructions/Directions: After last milking at dry-off or prior to first lactation in replacement dairy heifers, thoroughly clean and disinfect teat ends with alcohol swabs provided, and leave to air-dry. Do not use water with or without disinfectant. If a dry cow antibiotic has been infused, teat should be re-swabbed with an alcohol swab provided prior to infusion with LOCKOUT® teat sealant. A clean, disinfected and dry teat is essential. Infuse teats in the opposite order to cleansing. Insert tip of new syringe into teat canal. To minimize LOCKOUT teat sealant entering the udder, squeeze top of teat canal at base of udder. Gently depress plunger until teat canal is full. Remove and discard syringe. Treat remaining teats, using a new syringe for each teat. Do not massage teats or udder following infusion.
Active Ingredient: Bismuth subnitrate
