Product Overview
Silver Sulfadiazine is a sulfonamide antibiotic used to treat and prevent serious infections.
It’s applied to the skin as treatment for second- or third-degree burns.
Silver Sulfadiazine Cream is a thick topical antibacterial cream most commonly used for burn wounds. Use of Silver Sulfadiazine Cream may be the difference between a burn that heals perfectly and one that gets severely infected.This cream is used in most second- and third-degree burn cases. Because of its activity against numerous bacterial strains, the cream is also approved for use in catheter-related infection prevention.
Silver Sulfadiazine is intended for use in cats and dogs.
Silver Sulfadiazine:
- Can combat Staph and E. Coli
- Brings itch relief
- Can help prevent burn wound infection
Scientists do not yet completely understand how Silver Sulfadiazine works. However, they do know it provides antimicrobial activity that is broad in nature. It can effectively combat Staph and E. coli strains of bacteria. It can be used in the prevention of infection where burns have penetrated skin. It can also bring relief to itching associated with the healing process.
Silver Sulfadiazine's possible side effects include:
- Itching
- Burning
- Pain
- Interstitial nephritis
- Rash
- Burning sensation
- Skin discoloration
- Erythema multiforme
- Skin necrosis

Contact your nearest emergency animal hospital.
Never use this medication for animals allergic to sulfite drugs or this medication. In lactating or pregnant females, use with caution.
Silver Sulfadiazine 1% Cream is sold in a 400 gm container.

- To prevent anything from getting into the cream or the wound, apply dressing in a closed room with low circulation of air. Apply the cream to the gauze and cut dressing to proper size for the wound. Either use a disposable instrument or sterilize it before using.
- Use enough cream to cover the wound, approximately 1/6 of an inch thick.
- When applied to fresh wounds, it is normal for the gauze to turn a brown color from the cream.
Use as directed by a veterinarian.
