Product Overview

Spironolactone Tablets are potassium-sparing diuretics that are useful in treating liver disease, kidney disease, congestive heart failure, high blood pressure, and conditions of abnormally low blood potassium levels.

For use in horses, cats, and dogs.
Spironolactone is a treatment for advanced heart failure. It removes excess fluid from bodily tissue and the bloodstream.
Spironolactone increases the volume of water excreted by the kidneys.
If your pet experiences any of the following adverse reactions, immediately discontinue spironolactone administration and seek emergency veterinary attention.
  • Decreased urination
  • Numbness
  • Weakness
  • Confusion
  • Fatigue
  • Shortness of breath
  • Irregular heartbeat
  • Allergic reaction (Hives, swelling of the face, tongue, or lips, or difficulty breathing)
If any of these less serious reactions occur, continue use and speak with your veterinarian.
  • Dry mouth
  • Decreased appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
Other reactions could occur. If your pet exhibits any reactions that seem bothersome or unusual, speak to your veterinarian.

  • Do not administer spironolactone to pets who are allergic to it or have elevated levels of potassium, significant kidney disease, acute kidney failure, or Addison's disease.
  • Do not administer to pets who might be used for breeding or pets who are not urinating.
  • Use with caution in pets who are lactating or pregnant, or who have liver disease, uncontrolled diabetes, or other conditions causing imbalances of blood electrolytes.
