Product Overview
Sulfasalazine, made by Azulfidine, is a treatment option for moderate to mild ulcerative colitis and an adjunctive therapy option to treat severe ulcerative colitis. It can also be used to treat ankylosing spondylitis and rheumatoid arthritis associated with Crohn’s disease treatment.
This product is sold by the tablet.
Sulfasalazine is used for the treatment of mild to moderate ulcerative colitis as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of severe ulcerative colitis; for the treatment of Crohn's disease for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis or ankylosing spondylitis
Sulfasalazine is intended for use in horses, cats, and dogs only.
Sulfasalazine:
- Can be used to treat inflammatory bowel disease
- Can also be used for vasculitis
Sulfasalazine works by remaining in the intestine to be effective, as most of it is not absorbed into the bloodstream when given orally.
Cease administration of this medication and contact a veterinarian if:
- Your pet has eye discharge
- The eye becomes red
- Your pet begins to squint
- Any eye related issues occur
