Beef-flavored Trifexis (spinosad + milbemycin oxime) chews are prescribed to eliminate fleas and keep flea infestations from happening. They also protect against heartworm disease as well as treating and controlling infections of adult hookworm, whipworm, and roundworm in dogs.
Because Trifexis chewable tablets are beef-flavored, so your dog will think you are giving him a treat. The convenience of flea control medicine, heartworm prevention, and intestinal parasite control in one flavorful flea and tick pill lets pet parents rest easy knowing their furry companions are protected.
Your pet must be tested for heartworm before administering Trifexis tablets for dogs. This is an important test and helps protect your pet from heartworm and ensures they get the correct treatment.
The use of Trifexis chewable tablets for flea and parasite control in breeding males has not been evaluated, so it is not recommended at this time. Talk to your veterinarian about appropriate flea control products for breeding males.
Trifexis is for dogs and puppies 8 weeks of age or older. Trifexis should not be used on puppies or dogs under 5 lbs.
When used monthly and in line with the directions on the label, Trifexis kills any fleas on your dogs before they have a chance to lay eggs and reproduce. All animals in your household should be treated with a flea product approved for their species to keep the flea population under control.
Your dog may be exposed to fleas either during walks outside, visits to the dog park, or by visiting other dogs. If fleas jump onto your dog and bite them, they are killed by Trifexis, so that they do not reproduce and infest your dog and your home. This happens every time a new flea jumps on your pet, as long as you give them Trifexis tablets for flea and parasite control.
If you have administered Trifexis correctly and see intestinal worms in your dog’s stool, do not worry. This indicates that Trifexis is doing its job in keeping your pet parasite-free by expelling the parasites. If you have any concerns about this, contact your veterinarian.
