Ursodiol is a medication used to treat and prevent some types of gallstones from forming in dogs and cats. It is also effective in the management of liver disease, or biliary cirrhosis.

Ursodiol is used to prevent and treat the formation of certain types of gallstones or for liver disease (biliary cirrhosis).
Ursodiol is intended for use in cats and dogs.
Ursodiol:
- Is an oral medication use to treat gallbladder and liver disease
- Can also be used to remove gallstones that contain cholesterol
Ursodiol works by decreasing the liver's production of cholesterol and the amounts that the intestines absorb. It can also decrease cholesterol that forms into gallbladder stones.
Diarrhea was reported in rare cases while taking this medication.
