BotVax B is used for the prevention of Botulism due to Clostridium botulinum Type B in healthy horses. Vaccinating pregnant mares will also help the unborn foal to develop antibodies to protect them when they are first born.

Botulinum toxins are among the strongest in the world, and horses are a lot more sensitive to it than any other species, time is very critical when it comes to treating it due to a rapid and severe progression of this disease.

Horses that will be more likely at risk will be horses who travel a lot for races, shows or any other equine event, also horses and foals that reside or travel into endemic areas. It has been shown to be safe to administer to healthy adult horses, pregnant mares, and foals 2 weeks of age or older, it should be administered with three-dose initial series and a single annual booster thereafter.

The vaccine is sold in 10 ml vials which are equal to 5 doses; it will be shipped out overnight with ice packs to assure it is in perfect condition once it arrives.
