Saline (Sodium Chloride) is used to replace water, chloride, and sodium that can be depleted as a result of a variety of diseases. This solution is isotonic with bodily fluids, so it can be used as a diluent or solvent; for biologicals, pharmaceuticals, and antibiotics when compatible; and to wash tissue surfaces and mucous membranes.
Sodium Chloride 0.9% Injection Fluid, 1000 ml (Saline) is for use in replacement therapy of sodium, chloride and water which may become depleted in many diseases. Because this solution is isotonic with body fluids, it may also be used as a solvent or diluent, for antibiotics and other pharmaceuticals and biologicals where compatible, and for washing mucous membranes and other tissue surfaces.
