Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim Oral Suspension is a comprehensive antibiotic that is useful in treating gastrointestinal, skin, urinary tract, or respiratory tract infections, along with other problems.
5mL of this oral suspension contains 40mg of trimethoprim USP and 200mg of sulfamethoxazole.
Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim Oral Suspension is a broad spectrum antibiotic used to treat respiratory, urinary tract, skin or gastrointestinal infections and other conditions.
For use in horses.
Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim Oral Suspension is easily dosed once daily and is useful against a variety of bacterial infections.
Trimetoprim starves bacteria, preventing replication of bacterial DNA. Sulfamethoxazole is a type of sulfonamide antibiotic, which works by limiting bacterial growth. It also works to inhibit folic acid synthesis, which is a key factor in the synthesis of bacterial DNA.
If your animal exhibits signs of an allergic reaction, withdraw use and seek emergency veterinary attention. Signs include:
- Yellow eyes or skin
- Unusual bleeding
- Hives
- Swollen face
- Swollen tongue
- Swollen lips
- Closing of the throat
- Trouble breathing
- Sun sensitivity
- Weakness
- Diarrhea
- Decrease in appetite
- Vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Nausea
- Dizziness
- Fatigue
- Any other bothersome or unusual signs
